Craig Holmes - FRST
Craig is Strategy Manager, New Materials, Technologies and Services, which includes ICT, manufacturing, materials and human technologies. He has over 30 years experience in the telecommunications, electronics and information technology industries with experience in design, strategy development and research management, both in New Zealand and Canada. Craig held a number of roles in one of the largest start up companies in New Zealand, Clear Communications, and more recently spent two years with the School of Engineering at the University of Auckland.
Responsible for developing the Foundation's investment strategies and sector development plans for a number of investment portfolios. Areas covered include Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Tourism, Creative Industries and other knowledge intensive service industries, niche specialist manufacturing, nanotechnology and advanced materials, and future human technologies.
30 years experience in the telecommunications, electronics and information technology industries. Held various design and construction roles in the aeronautics and telecommunications industries in Canada, (Transport Canada and Bell Canada), and telecommunications in New Zealand, (Clear Communications, Telstra New Zealand). Managed a Strategic Development group at Clear evaluating new business opportunities and developed the business plan for ClearNet in the early days of ISP development in New Zealand.
Spent two years with the School of Engineering at the University of Auckland in the inaugural role of Development Manager for the School interacting with industry and alumni developing relationships supporting research, fundraising and scholarships for the School. Moved to the Foundation in January 2004 in current role.
